Stellar spellers are being called upon to showcase their abilities at the annual Adult Spelling Bee, scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 24, at the Southwest Regional Library. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their spelling prowess, compete for bragging rights, and secure a spot in the Regional Bee.

Pamela Skjolsvik, a librarian at Southwest Regional and moderator of the Fort Worth bee, shared insights into the competition's dynamics. She mentioned that libraries contributing to the regional bee select words for various rounds, ranging from Intro to Final. Reflecting on the qualities that may enhance spelling skills, Skjolsvik stated, "I wish I knew the key to being a good speller, but I imagine that those who read a lot, who write and maybe speak multiple languages would have an advantage in the spelling arena."

Despite the competitive nature of the event, Skjolsvik emphasized the fun aspect of the spelling bee, encouraging individuals of all skill levels to participate. "While the spelling bee is a competition, it’s also a very fun event. So even if you aren’t the greatest speller, sign up and meet some new people," she remarked.

Highlighting the caliber of competition at the Fort Worth Bee, Skjolsvik noted, "The winners from the Fort Worth Bee have won the Regional Bee two years in a row. And they are signed up again this year." With a track record of success, the upcoming Adult Spelling Bee promises to be a challenging yet enjoyable experience for participants.

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming showdown of linguistic prowess, spellers are gearing up to put their skills to the test and vie for the coveted title of spelling champion.
