NextOp, a nonprofit organization focused on connecting post-9/11 enlisted veterans with employment opportunities, will hold its first Employment Workshop and Career Fair in partnership with the City of Fort Worth. The event is scheduled for Friday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Will Rogers Memorial Center – Stagecoach Room.

NextOp operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and provides its services to veterans at no cost. Since starting in 2015, the group has helped place more than 5,000 veterans into jobs across the United States. These positions have offered an average annual salary of $60,000. After expanding operations into North Texas in June 2024, NextOp has assisted over 115 veterans in securing roles with an average salary of $74,000 per year.

The upcoming career fair differs from typical job fairs by focusing on intentional hiring practices. Employers attending the event are expected to conduct structured interviews with veteran and transitioning-military candidates. The format is described as similar to “speed dating for jobs,” aiming for direct and meaningful conversations that can result in immediate job offers or progress toward employment.

Employers participating are encouraged either to hire qualified candidates during the event or engage them in discussions that could lead to future job opportunities.

“Every participating employer is expected to hold structured, interview-style conversations with veteran and transitioning-military candidates. Think of it as ‘speed dating for jobs’ — with results that matter,” according to organizers.

Registration information is available online for employers, candidates, and veteran service organizations interested in taking part.
