The City of Fort Worth and Downtown Fort Worth Inc. are seeking public input on proposed improvements to Heritage Park, Paddock Park, and the nearby streetscape surrounding the Tarrant County Courthouse. Residents are invited to a public meeting scheduled for August 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden-Rose Hall Room.
The planned project involves substantial capital investments aimed at enhancing public spaces, accessibility, and pedestrian safety in downtown Fort Worth. Specific upgrades include restoring Heritage Park Plaza, constructing new pathways, building a canopy walk that will connect the bluff to the Trinity River, and making additional enhancements to Paddock Park.
Alongside park improvements, the initiative will also address streetscape features on Weatherford and Belknap streets. The upgrades will consist of wider sidewalks, new lighting installations, landscaping updates, modernized traffic signals, and curb extensions designed to increase walkability and improve pedestrian safety.
According to city officials, “City staff and project partners will present design concepts, answer questions and gather community feedback.”
Renderings shared by the city indicate that after years of planning, these projects are expected to reopen Heritage Park Plaza, revitalize Paddock Park and the area north of the courthouse, while expanding green space in downtown Fort Worth.
The meeting is part of an effort to involve residents in shaping these changes before construction begins.
