Rep. Roger Williams, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, posted several statements on his social media account this week regarding the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on local communities, as well as his recent efforts to promote geothermal energy development in Texas.
On November 5, 2025, Williams addressed the duration of the current federal government shutdown, stating, “This is now the longest full government shutdown in U.S. history, and Senate Democrats own it.
Behind every day of delay are missed paychecks, stalled loans, and families struggling to make ends meet. It is time to stop the games and reopen the government.”
Later that same day, Williams highlighted growing food insecurity in North Texas amid the shutdown: “Families in North Texas are waiting in long lines at food banks, with some seeing more than 200 visitors a day.
Local organizations are working tirelessly to meet the growing need, but demand continues to rise.
How much longer will Washington Democrats use the American”
On November 6, 2025, Williams announced an initiative aimed at boosting geothermal energy development in Texas by communicating directly with federal officials: “Today, I sent a letter to @SecretaryWright urging the Department of Energy to prioritize geothermal development right here in the Great State of Texas.
No state is better prepared. Texas has the workforce, infrastructure, and vision to power America’s next chapter of energy https://t.co/X5OiUMmEmh“
Williams has represented his district through multiple election cycles. In 2024 he won re-election against Chad Hagg with over 99% of the vote; previous victories include contests against Julie Oliver (2018 and 2020), Kathi Thomas (2016), Marco Montoya (2014), and Elaine M. Henderson (2012).
