Rep. Roger Williams, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, addressed several issues affecting his district and the nation in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) between February 22 and 23, 2026.
On February 22, Williams commented on an incident at Mar-a-Lago involving an armed individual and highlighted the impact of a government shutdown on federal agents. He wrote, “As we continue to learn more about the armed man at Mar-a-Lago this morning, we must remember that the brave agents who responded are serving our country without pay due to the Democrat-led shutdown.”
The following day, Williams focused on small businesses in Texas. In a post dated February 23, he stated, “Small businesses represent nearly half of Texas’ workforce, and it was great to see them highlighted, especially Front Porch Distillery, a family-owned business founded in Stephenville, Texas. They’re not just creating jobs, they are purchasing ingredients from local https://t.co/cCA5ayl5Pu”.
Later that same day, Williams addressed dairy farmers in his district regarding federal support programs. He posted on February 23: “Attention Texas dairy farmers: Enrollment for @USDA’s Dairy Margin Coverage program closes February 26. With so many dairy operations in our district, this safety net matters. Thank you @SecRollins and @POTUS for working to protect our dairy farmers from market volatility.”
Williams has represented his district since winning election in 2012 against Elaine M. Henderson with 58.4% of the vote to Henderson’s 37.4%. He continued to secure re-election over subsequent cycles with significant margins against various opponents including Marco Montoya (2014), Kathi Thomas (2016), Julie Oliver (2018 and 2020), and Chad Hagg (2024).
Small businesses play a crucial role in Texas’ economy by providing employment opportunities for nearly half of the state’s workforce. Federal programs like USDA’s Dairy Margin Coverage aim to provide financial protection for agricultural producers facing market fluctuations.
