Williams has represented his district through several election cycles since first winning office in 2012 against Elaine M. Henderson with 58.4% of the vote (154 votes to 98). He continued his tenure by defeating Marco Montoya in 2014 (60.2% to 36.2%), Kathi Thomas in 2016 (58.3% to 37.7%), Julie Oliver in both 2018 (53.5% to 44.8%) and again in 2020 (55.9% to 42.1%), and most recently Chad Hagg in a decisive victory during the general election of 2024 with over ninety-nine percent of votes cast.
