Funding for the Roanoke Stimulus Grant Program was approved by the Roanoke City Council.

The funding will help provide relief to the city from the economic strain the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to businesses in the area, according to Community Impact.

Up to $200,000 will be contributed to the grant program, which will help any local businesses experiencing a hard time during the pandemic. Businesses that applies for a grant can receive a maximum amount of $3,000.

Any independently owned business in the area with 50 or fewer workers can apply. Retail stores, restaurants, small manufacturing stores, salons and other personal care services are eligible.

Chain stores, home-based businesses, nonprofits and similar businesses are not eligible to apply for grants from the Roanoke Stimulus Grant Program, city officials told Community Impact.
