As summer rolls in, June is the perfect time for celebration, community, and outdoor fun in the sun! Mark your calendar for these upcoming June events with Arlington Parks and Recreation.
Dottie Teen Quest Camps – Tuesdays & Thursdays
Dottie Lynn Recreation Center will host several mini camps on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout June, just for teens! These teen mini camps for ages 12-15 offer a full day experience of exploring different areas in the Metroplex. Camp themes for June are Art Appreciation, Game On, and Outdoor Adventures.

Juneteenth Cookout (50+ yrs) – Wednesday, June 14
Seniors, let’s celebrate Juneteenth at East Library and Recreation Center! Starting at noon, we will have burgers, prizes, and special features to honor the holiday. All you have to do is join us in the Senior Hall where we will supply tasty burgers and all the toppings! Please call 817-275-1351 to register.
Dallas Wings Game & Juneteenth Celebration Day Trip – Saturday, June 17
Join us for a thrilling day of basketball and celebration as we head to the Dallas Wings basketball game on Juneteenth night! This exciting field trip hosted by The Beacon Recreation Center is the perfect way to enjoy a unique cultural experience while watching one of America's most popular sports. $40 cost per person includes lunch and transportation to the College Park Center in Arlington.
Let’s Get Fishy With It! – Friday, June 23
Join us at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center as we educate future anglers of all ages with setting up a fishing pole, baiting a hook, and practicing how to cast! There will be fun nature-based activities for everyone to enjoy. This event is free to attend with paid activities also available. A limited number of fishing poles will be available for use. No registration required – all are invited to come get fishy with it!
GLOW Girls Nature Photography – Saturday, June 24
Let’s glow, girls! Join us at F.J. Red Kane Park as we learn how to photograph nature. This workshop will cover simple photography basics, how to properly handle a camera, and how to use outdoor resources for photo inspiration. It will also touch on the basics of photo editing.
GLOW (Growing Leaders in Outdoor Wilderness) Girls is an outdoor education program for young females, ages 8-12, who have limited access to outdoor programming. These workshops will set the foundation for a skillset that will grow as participants continue to engage in program offerings. This program is provided free of charge, utilizing a grant from Texas Parks & Wildlife.
