Without missing a beat, Levitt Arlington's free concert season swings into summer the first weekend of June, with two big celebrations (Juneteenth and Light Up Arlington) and a Music Friendly Community Arlington event embellishing a concert calendar featuring offerings for a range of musical tastes.

Country fans, indie folkers and honky tonkers will want to save the dates for Cody Hibbard (June 3), Dale Watson (June 9), Squeezebox Bandits (June 23), and Radney Foster (June 30); blues and rock lovers won’t want to miss Sue Foley (June 16) Dirty River Boys (June 24) or Bob Schneider (July 2).

For jazz and funk babies, the Levitt’s the place to be when Big Sam’s Funky Nation (June 2), Tatiana “LadyMay” Mayfield (June 18), or Shamarr Allen (June 25) take the stage. The venue is also planning a special treat for Tejano fans: a performance by Selena Forever (July 1), a tribute band performing the music of the legendary Grammy winner and “Queen of Tejano Music.”

Big events on deck at the Levitt this summer include the second annual Arlington Juneteenth Celebration (June 17, 4-10 p.m.), where guests will enjoy food trucks, shopping, and a trio of concerts headlined by the New Orleans-based New Breed Brass Band; as well as an evening of live music and fireworks at Light Up Arlington (July 3), headlined by local favorite rocker Brad Thompson. (Juneteenth and Light Up Arlington are sponsored by the Levitt in partnership with Phi Beta Sigma and the Arlington Parks & Recreation Department, respectively).

In celebration of Arlington’s status as a Music Friendly Texas community, the Levitt will host a celebration of Arlington-born artists at Home Grown Arlington, headlined by indie American duo Dawn and Hawks (June 4).

“There’s so much to experience and explore in Arlington right now, and the Levitt is at the heart of everything,” said Letatia Teykl, the venue’s executive director. “On any given night, you can find tons of things to do within minutes of our venue before and after a show, or just keep the evening laid back and find all the fun you need at the Levitt."

Opening artists usually take the stage at 7:30 p.m, headliners typically go on at 8:30 p.m. Visit the Levitt website for additional details. New artists will be added throughout the spring and summer.
