There were 54 African American students enrolled in Westlake Academy Charter School District in the 2022-23 school year, 14.9% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Westlake Academy Charter School District welcomed 875 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 6.2% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Westlake Academy Charter School District roughly covers schools within Tarrant County and has a main office in Westlake.

Westlake Academy was the only school in the district which enrolled African American students, welcoming 54 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
