Construction to replace large cast-iron water mains is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 3, affecting several major streets in downtown Fort Worth over the next two years. The project will involve phased street closures and will impact smaller streets as well.

The initiative aims to prevent further water main breaks similar to those that occurred in August 2023 by replacing nearly century-old transmission mains. This replacement of major water mains in western downtown Fort Worth is expected to improve system reliability and public health protection.

A preconstruction meeting is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, in Room 2020 of Old City Hall, located at 200 Texas St. The meeting will also be available for live viewing through a Webex link.
