Former Fort Worth City Manager David Cooke has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Texas City Management Association (TCMA). The award ceremony will take place at the TCMA Annual Conference Awards Luncheon on June 20 at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors city management professionals who have significantly contributed to local government management for over two decades. Alongside Cooke, Joey Dunn, deputy city manager of Bryan, and Brad Stafford, Parks, Recreation and Facilities director for Bryan, will also receive this accolade.
Cooke's tenure as city manager in Fort Worth has been marked by his efforts in managing the city's growth to become the 11th largest in the nation. He served under two mayors and was key in navigating challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic by forming partnerships and providing guidance for city employees. The award reflects the respect he commands among colleagues and peers.
The TCMA is committed to promoting governance standards, service, leadership, ethics, and education while valuing diversity across Texas cities.
City employees honored Cooke with a reception at New City Hall on Thursday.
