The Texas Rangers announced on Apr. 5 a series of roster moves involving right-handed pitchers Luis Curvelo and Carter Baumler.

The team recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock after he made three appearances for the Express this season, allowing two earned runs in three innings and recording one save. Both runs were given up in his most recent outing against Gwinnett. In spring training with Texas, Curvelo had a 1-0 record, one save, a 4.15 ERA over eight relief appearances, and twelve strikeouts to just one walk before being optioned to Round Rock on March 23.

Curvelo is originally from Higuerote, Venezuela and debuted in Major League Baseball for the Rangers in 2025. Last season he went 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA over seventeen relief appearances and held left-handed hitters to a .194 batting average. He was signed by Texas as a free agent in November of the previous year after six seasons with the Mariners organization.

Baumler was placed on the fifteen-day injured list due to a right intercostal strain. The twenty-four-year-old reliever posted no record but had a 3.18 ERA with six walks and six strikeouts across four outings for Texas at the start of this year. He last pitched against Cincinnati, delivering one scoreless inning with one strikeout. Baumler made his major league debut on Opening Day at Philadelphia after joining Texas via trade from Pittsburgh following his selection in the Rule Five Draft from Baltimore.

With these transactions, the Rangers maintain their forty-man roster limit along with one player—left-hander Jordan Montgomery—on the sixty-day injured list.
