Born in Grand Prairie, Texas, on September 28, 1941

Charles Robert Taylor was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, on September 28, 1941. He played football and other sports in high school before attending Arizona State University. At ASU, he was a key player in football and baseball. Taylor was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1964, where he played for 13 seasons as a wide receiver. He led the NFL in receptions twice and helped the Redskins reach their first Super Bowl in 1972. Over his career, Taylor set several NFL records, including the all-time receptions record at the time of his retirement. He was selected to eight Pro Bowls and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1984. After retiring as a player, Taylor worked as a coach and scout for the Redskins. He remained connected to the sport and the team until the early 1990s. Taylor passed away on February 19, 2022.
