Coppell Independent School District issued the following announcement.
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has announced the new athletic districts alignment for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons.
The Coppell High School football, basketball and volleyball teams will continue to compete in District 6 at the Conference 6A level along with Flower Mound HS, Marcus HS, Hebron HS and Lewisville HS. New additions to the district include Plano HS, Plano East HS and Plano West HS.
“We did not have a huge shuffle in our district, and we are happy about that,” said Coppell ISD Athletic Director Kit Pehl. “Flower Mound and Lewisville schools have good athletics programs in the state, and we are excited to compete with them again for the next two years. Plano schools are also very competitive, which makes this district one of the toughest in Texas. Facing these seven schools during the district schedule will prepare our teams well for the postseason.”
Irving, Irving MacArthur and Irving Nimitz, who were part of District 6 the last two years, will move to District 7.
