Scammers have been targeting residents by posing as law enforcement officers or jury officials and using aggressive tactics to demand payment for alleged "legal fees." These fraudulent calls, however, have no connection to the Fort Worth Municipal Court, and residents should be aware that the court staff does not make phone calls to take payments.

Director William Rumuly emphasized that Fort Worth is a Safe Harbor Court, where residents can visit without fear of arrest for outstanding warrants issued by the Fort Worth Municipal Court. He stated, "People arriving at the Court voluntarily are not arrested for Class C warrants."

Impersonating government officials is a common tactic used by scam artists to deceive their victims. To ensure their safety, individuals who receive messages requesting payment should contact the Fort Worth Municipal Court directly. They can reach out to the court via the provided contact information.

In addition to this scam alert, residents are encouraged to report any suspicious or fraudulent activity to the Fort Worth Police Department nonemergency number at 817-392-4222.

It is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and stay informed about the latest scams circulating in their area. By being aware of these fraudulent schemes, individuals can protect themselves from falling victim to financial loss or identity theft.
