Residents of Fort Worth have until January 1st to respond to a survey that will help shape the future of recreational spaces in the city. The Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is developing an extensive Park, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan called Play Big! The plan aims to enhance the overall park system, identify land for future parkland and facilities, improve existing parks and recreational facilities, and create new parks, amenities, and programming.

According to the department, the Play Big! Master Plan will also explore strategies for expanding recreational programming, fostering economic development, and implementing financial strategies. These strategies may include potential funding and grant opportunities. In addition to this, the plan will propose recommendations for policy and regulatory revisions to safeguard the vision and concepts of the final plan.

To ensure that the community's voice is heard, the department is conducting extensive public outreach. This includes stakeholder and community engagement efforts, such as community workshops and pop-up events. The department believes that this community involvement will be instrumental in gathering valuable input and insights from residents.

A key component of the community engagement process is the development of a statistically valid survey. This survey, created in collaboration with National Service Research, will serve as an objective tool to assess whether the park system aligns with locally established standards. The survey has been designed in both English and Spanish to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.

Residents are strongly encouraged to participate in the survey and community engagement events to play a role in shaping the future of Fort Worth's parks and recreational spaces. By providing their input, residents can contribute to the development of a master plan that reflects the needs and desires of the community.

The survey is open for responses until January 1st. To learn more about the Play Big! Master Plan and to participate in the survey, residents can visit the Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department's website.

This initiative highlights the city's commitment to involving its residents in decision-making processes and ensuring that their voices are heard. By actively participating in the survey and community engagement events, residents can help create a future in which Fort Worth's parks and recreational spaces are even better and more inclusive.
