The Development Services Department of the City of Fort Worth has unveiled a new program aimed at assisting small-scale development projects. The initiative, known as the Small-Scale Infrastructure Program (SSIP), is designed to enhance the city's infrastructure by providing efficient and cost-effective solutions for developer-funded projects.

Director of Development Services, D.J. Harrel, expressed enthusiasm about the program, stating, "We are thrilled to introduce this program." Harrel highlighted that the SSIP will not only streamline processes but also lead to significant time and cost savings for small businesses and entities looking to undertake smaller-scale public improvements.

The SSIP program offers a range of services tailored to small-scale construction projects, including design and plan production, construction administration, and oversight. Initially, the program covers services such as streetlights, pedestrian lights, and incidental scope like sidewalks and driveway apron construction. Future phases will expand to include water/sewer services, drainage, roadway improvements, and landscaping.

Assistant Director of Development Services, Ty Thompson, emphasized the city's commitment to innovation through initiatives like the SSIP, stating, "This program is just another example of the City of Fort Worth’s pursuit of innovative initiatives." Thompson noted that the SSIP will cater to the needs of small businesses and infill development projects.

The SSIP services encompass various aspects of project management, including client service, project planning, design, procurement, regulatory compliance, funding management, construction oversight, and community engagement. The program aims to provide a valuable resource for small businesses and entities seeking to foster development in Fort Worth.

Applying for SSIP services is simplified through the online permitting system, Accela, or in-person at City Hall. The program staff includes professionals like Jenna Lynn Henderson, Blanchet Dimonekene, Evelyn Roberts, and Victor V. Tornero Jr., who bring expertise to support small-scale infrastructure projects in the city.

The launch of the Small-Scale Infrastructure Program underscores the City of Fort Worth's dedication to supporting development and fostering growth through innovative and tailored solutions.
