Movies That Matter, a national award-winning film series program of the City of Fort Worth’s Human Relations Commission, will present "The Right to Read" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, located at 3200 Darnell St.
Admission to the event is free, and reservations can be made online.
"The Right to Read" (2023, NR-Language, 80 min.) shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide the youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of lifelong success: the ability to read.
Movies That Matter was created in 2010 as a way to create awareness in the community about human rights issues affecting people in Fort Worth and worldwide. The bi-monthly series presents film screenings and moderated discussions on various human and civil rights topics. The program was recognized by the National League of Cities in 2013 for its ability to increase resident participation in government and local activities by all segments of the community.
