Fort Worth is set to launch a new voluntary accreditation model for bars and restaurants in four of its entertainment districts. The initiative, named the Golden Lasso Accreditation, will be introduced by the City of Fort Worth in collaboration with the Entertainment District Task Force. This certification aims to recognize establishments that prioritize safety and enhance patrons' experiences.

Executive Assistant Police Chief Robert Alldredge presented this program to the City Council as part of an update on safety within Fort Worth's entertainment areas. The accreditation seeks to empower venues by encouraging them to formalize their safety practices through policy and employee training, contributing to what is described as "Safety-Branded Entertainment."

The project stems from concerns raised during the summer of 2023 about safety and crime in the West 7th entertainment district. As a response, a steering committee was formed, identifying four key districts for improvement. SafeNight LLC, a global consulting firm specializing in policing strategies and nightlife management, was tasked with assessing these districts and developing recommendations.

Nearly $150,000 has been secured from both public and private sources to fund this study. The Golden Lasso program specifically targets businesses holding a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) license, aiming to reduce alcohol-related harm and foster positive relationships among business owners, city agencies, state agencies, and community groups.

Moving forward, the City Council plans to complete a resolution supporting the program's goals. Organizers will also collaborate with Visit Fort Worth to promote accredited venues to visitors. Throughout spring, efforts will focus on recruiting bars and restaurants across all four districts.
