More specifically, the official text was summarized by the state legislature as ’’Relating to the renewal of a license to practice pharmacy’’.
The following is our breakdown, based on the actual bill text, and may include interpretation to clarify its provisions.
This bill amends the Occupations Code to allow the Texas pharmacy board to refuse renewal of a pharmacy license if the license holder has a pharmacy license in another state that is suspended, revoked, canceled, or otherwise prohibits pharmacy practice in that state. The amendment applies only to pharmacy licenses expiring on or after the bill's effective date. Licenses that expire before the effective date will continue to be governed by the laws in place when they expired. This Act is set to take effect on Sept. 1, 2025.
