Construction on University Drive in Fort Worth has been put on hold in preparation for the upcoming Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Starting on January 13th, all lanes on South University Drive will be open to accommodate the influx of visitors to the city. The decision to pause the construction project was made to ensure smooth traffic flow and convenience for people attending the Stock Show.
The University Drive construction project aims to transform the road into a six-lane thoroughfare, with a raised median, parking, and bike lanes. Additionally, pedestrian-friendly crosswalks and improved bus stops are planned to make the area more accessible and safe for everyone. This project is being carried out in two phases, with the first phase focusing on the section near the Fort Worth Zoo, shopping and dining destinations, and the Trinity River trails.
According to the project timeline, the first phase of construction is expected to be completed by March of this year. Despite the temporary halt for the Stock Show, work will resume promptly after the event concludes. The improvements to University Drive will not only enhance the overall infrastructure but also contribute to the city's efforts to create a more pedestrian-friendly environment for residents and visitors alike.
In light of the construction pause, Fort Worth residents and visitors can now enjoy unhindered access to South University Drive during the Stock Show. This will undoubtedly ease traffic congestion and improve the overall experience for those attending the event.
The decision to halt the construction project was met with understanding and support from the local community. One Fort Worth resident, John Davis, expressed his satisfaction, stating, "It's great that the city is prioritizing the Stock Show and making sure visitors have a smooth experience. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed improvements on University Drive."
The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is a highly anticipated annual event that attracts thousands of visitors from near and far. With the construction on hold, attendees can now enjoy easy access to the event grounds, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
As the Stock Show draws near, the city of Fort Worth is focused on providing the best possible experience for visitors. The temporary suspension of the University Drive construction project demonstrates the city's commitment to accommodating the needs of its residents and guests. Once the Stock Show concludes, work will resume promptly, and Fort Worth residents can look forward to the completion of the improved University Drive.
