As extreme temperatures hit the city of Fort Worth, the local government is taking measures to support and protect individuals experiencing homelessness. Regular emergency shelters are prepared to serve those in need, with additional locations available if necessary.
"If individuals arrive at Presbyterian Night Shelter or Union Gospel Mission and beds are full, they will be relocated to available overflow beds at one of the available additional emergency shelter bed locations," said a spokesperson for the City of Fort Worth. This plan ensures that the demand for shelter will not exceed capacity.
The primary daytime resource for adults experiencing homelessness is True Worth Place, which operates daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. True Worth Place provides a safe and warm environment for individuals to access essential services and support.
"While our shelter is currently under construction, the Salvation Army is providing bus passes, hygiene kits, coats, hats, gloves, and warm blankets for those in need," stated a representative from the Salvation Army. These items are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
