The 2024 Fort Worth Business Plan Competition has reached its next stage, with 20 competitors moving forward to receive essential business development workshops, mentorship opportunities, and pitch practice. This annual event celebrates Fort Worth's entrepreneurial spirit and aims to train emerging small businesses for long-term success.
Robert Sturns, the economic development director for the City of Fort Worth, expressed his enthusiasm for the competition, stating, "The Fort Worth Business Plan Competition is honestly one of my favorite events that we do as a department, and that enthusiasm is 100% shared by our sponsors at Frost Bank." Sturns emphasized the importance of the competition in guiding and coaching small businesses, especially those in the early stages of scaling up and figuring out their next steps.
The Top 20 competitors will benefit from coaching and mentorship provided by Frost Bank, Accelerate Fort Worth, HSC Next, SCORE Fort Worth, Tarrant SBDC, TechFW, and other local partners. This diverse group of small businesses reflects the vibrant entrepreneurial community in Fort Worth, with 17 of the top 20 businesses being either minority-owned, women-owned, or disadvantaged businesses.
Once the competitors complete their training, they will utilize their newfound knowledge to develop a comprehensive written business plan. The culmination of the 2024 Fort Worth Business Plan Competition will take place on Thursday, May 9, at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
