Movies That Matter, a national award-winning film series program of the City of Fort Worth’s Human Relations Commission, will present "The Right to Read" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, located at 3200 Darnell St.

Admission is free, but reservations are required and can be made online.

"The Right to Read" (2023, NR-Language, 80 min.) shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide the youngest generation with what they consider the most foundational indicator of lifelong success: the ability to read.

Movies That Matter was created in 2010 to raise awareness about human rights issues affecting people in Fort Worth and globally. The bi-monthly series presents film screenings and moderated discussions on various human and civil rights topics. In 2013, the program was recognized by the National League of Cities for its ability to increase resident participation in government and local activities across all community segments.
