The City of Fort Worth has taken steps to simplify the process for developers to create or improve affordable housing by updating its Housing Tax Credit (HTC) guidelines. The city council members voted unanimously in favor of these changes during their recent meeting.

Housing Tax Credits are federal incentives designed to encourage the development of affordable housing by assisting private developers with some project costs. In Texas, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) oversees the distribution of these credits.

Developers interested in obtaining HTCs must apply through TDHCA and adhere to local standards established by the City of Fort Worth to qualify for this benefit.
