The Fort Worth Fire Department is set to break ground on a new, larger Fire Station 16 in the Como neighborhood. This development is part of the 2022 Bond Program. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, at 5701 Lovell Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76107.
The event will feature several notable guests including Mayor Mattie Parker, City Manager David Cooke, Assistant City Manager Dana Burghdoff, Councilmembers Michael D. Crain and Jared Williams, and Fire Chief Jim Davis. The public is invited to attend.
In 2023, the Fort Worth City Council approved a contract for purchasing land for this new station on the west side of the city at a cost of $2.27 million. The new location is at the northeast corner of Lovell Avenue and Horne Street, less than half a mile from its current site at 5933 Geddes St. The existing station will be demolished and the new facility is expected to open in early 2026.
