The City of Fort Worth hosted its third Development 101 workshop on September 30 at the new City Hall. The event attracted area developers, consultant firms, business owners, and residents interested in understanding the city's development process. The hybrid format included a tour and workshop to showcase the fifth-floor Customer Center at the new City Hall.
Attendees toured facilities related to building permits, trades, infrastructure, zoning, water development, and more. The relocation aims to improve customer service by streamlining processes and providing convenient access to essential services in one location.
Designed for developers, consultants, small-business owners, and city planning participants, the workshop offered insights into navigating Fort Worth's development landscape. It featured an opening presentation followed by breakout sessions on topics like Zoning, Urban Design, Engineering, Transportation, Stormwater, and Platting.
A creative scenario called "Bob’s Building a Bistro" illustrated potential processes triggered when opening a business. This approach simplified complex steps for attendees.
Post-presentation discussions between staff and attendees emphasized collaboration and provided valuable information. The series reflects Fort Worth's commitment to enhancing customer experience in development projects.
The Development 101 workshop is a collaborative effort with partners including the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth, Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce. Workshop videos and presentations will be available online once released.
