The Northwest Community Center in Fort Worth will be renamed to honor former Mayor Betsy Price, the city's longest-serving mayor. The facility, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in January, is located at Northwest Community Park on 8375 Blue Mound Road.

This 25,000-square-foot center will feature a gymnasium, fitness equipment, and meeting rooms. On Tuesday evening, the City Council voted to name the building the Betsy Price Community Center.

Price expressed her gratitude by stating: “I am deeply humbled and honored to have the Northwest Community Center named in my honor.” She added her hopes for the center to become “a vibrant hub for our community – fostering a sense of belonging, prioritizing health and wellness, and reflecting the values that make Fort Worth extraordinary.”

Betsy Price served as mayor from 2011 until 2021. During her tenure, she was a strong supporter of parks and trails and played a key role in making Fort Worth a Blue Zones city.

On November 20th, the Park & Recreation Advisory Board also voted in favor of renaming the community center.
