During the final football game this weekend, Fort Worth played a role behind the scenes. All-American Tire Recyclers (AATR) sent crumb rubber from recycled tires to be used in the asphalt padding of the end zones at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
All-American Tire Recyclers operates as a green tire recycling facility and is contracted with the City of Fort Worth. The company processes scrap tires collected by city staff from illegal dump sites, litter cleanups, resident disposals at drop-off stations, and special events.
Originally based in Fort Worth, AATR has expanded its operations significantly. The company recycles over six million tires annually and has diverted more than 133 million pounds of rubber from landfills across the country. Their products support sustainable reuse and align with Fort Worth's environmental goals.
In November 2024, Fort Worth held its first scrap tire collection event where residents brought in 383 scrap tires. Residents were encouraged to bring used tires and rims from various vehicles for recycling.
The city plans to host three more Scrap Tire Collection events soon. These are organized with support from the North Central Texas Council of Governments and funded by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
While tires collected may not feature in televised games, they will be repurposed into materials for playgrounds, parking lots, asphalt, and landscaping throughout the DFW metroplex. This initiative contributes positively to local sustainability efforts.
About AATR: All American Tire Recyclers is certified by TCEQ to manage scrap tire removal and processing. They have a team of registered transporters who handle logistics between clients and their recycling center.
