The City of Fort Worth, in partnership with Trinity Metro, is taking steps to explore urban mobility solutions. This initiative is part of Mayor Mattie Parker's Urban Rail Committee Supporting Economic Development and Tourism.
Parker initiated the Urban Rail Committee in 2024 alongside Trinity Metro to evaluate the potential of urban rail as a modern transportation solution for Fort Worth. The committee includes leaders from business, tourism, transportation, and higher education sectors.
The latest development involves an early-stage feasibility study conducted by the City of Fort Worth, Trinity Metro, and the Urban Rail Committee. This study aims to assess transit solutions for high-density corridors and represents the initial phase in developing a more resilient transportation network.
"As one of the largest and fastest-growing cities in the United States, Fort Worth requires a proactive, commonsense approach to transportation planning to sustain future growth with scalable infrastructure," said Parker. "I’m grateful for the knowledge and expertise of the Urban Rail Committee as we consider what it will look like to move more than 1 million people around our city in the future."
With Fort Worth's population and economy expanding rapidly, strategic planning for future needs is crucial. The committee's work focuses on how urban rail can improve connectivity, stimulate economic development, and enhance Fort Worth's status as a hub for business and tourism. Ongoing exploration of urban innovation and mobility solutions is essential for maintaining economic vitality, quality of life, and long-term growth.
