Spring Break is approaching, and with it comes an influx of visitors to Fort Worth's attractions as school districts and Texas Christian University (TCU) will be on break from March 17-21. The city's popular spots are expected to see increased traffic as families seek leisure activities during this period.
The Transportation & Public Works (TPW) Department is collaborating with the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) to manage the anticipated congestion, particularly around the zoo and along University Drive. FWPD will oversee traffic management, while TPW crews will provide support through signage, barricades, and sandbags.
Visitors planning a trip to Dream Park are advised to use the north entrance of Trinity Park near the duck pond for convenience. The Fort Worth Zoo remains a favored destination during Spring Break, prompting several travel suggestions for potential visitors.
Trinity Metro offers transportation options to alleviate parking concerns at locations like the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the zoo. ZIPZONE provides a convenient travel solution with its first departure scheduled at 9:15 a.m., with more information available via their app or website.
For those heading to Butterflies in the Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, taking Lancaster Avenue instead of I-30 to University Drive is recommended for easier access.
Travelers not visiting these destinations are encouraged to consider alternative routes. Downtown visitors can still utilize parking meters, which accept coins, credit cards, and cash.
In preparation for Spring Break traffic flow adjustments, crews will reopen all current lane closures on South University Drive until March 18.
