The Emergency Housing Assistance Program has been launched in Dallas County by the Health and Human Services, which will give financial relief to residents living in the Dallas County but outside the city of Dallas.
According to a news release, residents in the county will be able to access short-term relief from the economic impact COVID-19 pandemic has had on their lives. The finances from the program can help with rent, mortgage and utility payments.
To receive funds, eligible residents' applications will go through the program's lottery system. Requirements include: a resident can't be receiving assistance through another program; the resident must live in Dallas County, but not in the city of Dallas; the resident must have a median income; and, the resident must have been affected financially by the coronavirus pandemic.
Applications are currently being accepted online and can be submitted in English or Spanish. The application can also be submitted over the phone for those who do not have internet access at 214-819-1968.
