The City of Fort Worth, in collaboration with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and regional partners, is seeking input from North Texas residents to develop an Air Quality Improvement Plan for the Dallas-Fort Worth area (DFW AQIP). This initiative is made possible through the funding provided by the EPA's Climate Pollution Reduction Grant.

The DFW AQIP aims to address air quality challenges in the region and implement projects and strategies that will improve the overall air quality. To ensure that the plan reflects the needs and preferences of the community, residents are encouraged to participate and share their ideas.

There are two ways for residents to provide feedback on projects and strategies they would like to see included in the DFW AQIP. The first option is to take the online survey designed for community members and advocates. This survey allows individuals to offer their opinions and suggestions conveniently.

The second option is to attend an upcoming open house hosted by NCTCOG and the City of Fort Worth. These open houses will be held across the Metroplex, including one in Fort Worth on January 18, 2024. During the open house, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the planning effort and air quality challenges in the DFW region, as well as share their ideas with City and NCTCOG staff. In addition, a short presentation will be given to summarize the goals of the plan.

The Fort Worth Open House will take place on January 18, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods. It is an excellent opportunity for residents to engage directly with the decision-makers and express their concerns and suggestions. Those attending the open house will also have the chance to complete the input survey on-site.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments, as a regional planning agency, plays a crucial role in bringing together individuals and local governments to address various issues across North Texas. To provide written feedback for the DFW AQIP, individuals can mail their comments to Savana Nance, Senior Air Quality Planner, at 616 Six Flags Drive, Arlington, TX 76011.

This collaborative effort between the City of Fort Worth, NCTCOG, and regional partners, along with the active involvement of North Texas residents, aims to create a comprehensive Air Quality Improvement Plan for the DFW area. By participating in the online survey or attending the open house, residents can have a direct say in the strategies and projects that will shape the future of air quality in their community.
