The City has announced changes to residential trash collection schedules due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Residents will be allowed two extra bags of garbage on their first pickup day following Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day without any additional fees.

Residents are advised to place these extra bags next to their brown garbage carts on the designated collection day. Each bag should not exceed the size of a standard 32-gallon kitchen trash bag.

There will be no collections for garbage, recycling, yard waste, or bulk items on Thursday, November 28. For those whose regular pickup day is Thursday, service will be moved to Friday. Similarly, Friday pickups will occur on Saturday. Bulk collections will resume on November 29, with normal schedules resuming Monday, December 2.

Extra bags will be collected by a separate truck and may not coincide with the timing of cart pickups. Residents are encouraged to exercise patience and avoid reporting missed collections unless there is an actual issue. In such cases, contact can be made through the 311 Fort Worth Contact Center at 817-392-1234 or via the MyFW app.

For residents needing to dispose of more trash than allowed curbside, four drop-off stations are available for excess garbage disposal. However, these facilities along with the Environmental Collection Center will be closed from November 28-29 in observance of Thanksgiving and reopen on November 30.

Additionally, Pay Bags can be purchased in sets of five for $15 plus tax by calling 817-392-1234. These bags will be mailed directly and billed through residents' water bills.
