The Fort Worth Police Department has launched a new initiative called the Community Camera Program, aimed at enhancing crime prevention efforts in the city. This program invites residents, businesses, and neighborhoods to register their doorbell and security cameras, providing valuable resources to law enforcement in the event of a criminal incident.

By registering their cameras, ordinary residents can collaborate with the FWPD in investigating criminal activities, fostering a safer environment for neighborhoods. However, it's important to note that registering a camera does not grant automatic access to live video streams or recorded footage. Instead, it simply informs the police of the presence of cameras at a specific location, allowing investigators to reach out and obtain possible evidence that may help solve a crime.

Police Chief Neil Noakes emphasized the significance of the Community Camera Program, stating, "This cost-effective, user-friendly, and transparent platform equips us with additional investigative tools and informs our decision-making process, all while safeguarding the privacy of our citizens and their residences. The Community Camera Program marks a significant stride towards keeping Fort Worth safe, together."

To further enhance the effectiveness of the program, business owners have the option to integrate their cameras with FWPD's camera system. This integration enables responding officers to receive real-time updates via the video feed, enhancing their ability to address and reduce crime throughout the city.

Registering cameras with the Community Camera Program is a quick and straightforward process. Residents and businesses can easily provide their name, contact details, and the number of cameras at their location through an online platform. This information will be securely stored and accessible only to authorized investigators.

The Community Camera Program is powered by Flock Safety, an all-in-one technology solution that collaborates with cities, businesses, schools, and law enforcement agencies to eliminate crime. FWPD uses Flock Safety's License Plate Readers (LPRs) as part of their crime reduction strategy.

The launch of this program demonstrates the commitment of the Fort Worth Police Department to work hand-in-hand with the community towards a safer city. By encouraging residents and businesses to register their cameras, the FWPD hopes to create a collaborative environment where citizens and law enforcement can work together in preventing and solving crimes.

Residents and businesses in Fort Worth are urged to participate in the Community Camera Program to contribute to the overall safety and security of their neighborhoods. By registering their cameras, they can play an active role in making Fort Worth a safer place to live and work.
