Improvements are set to take place along University Drive near the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, with plans to make pedestrian and traffic signal enhancements. The project, known as Phase 2 of the University Drive project, aims to improve pedestrian and traffic safety south of I-30. To learn more about the details of the project, residents are encouraged to attend an upcoming public meeting.

According to the plans, a portion of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Park and Trinity Park will be utilized to accommodate these improvements. Approximately 3.293 acres will be removed from Botanic Garden Park, and 1.808 acres will be removed from Trinity Park. As part of the project, 11 trees have been identified by the city forester for removal.

Construction for the northern section of University Drive is scheduled to begin in June 2026 and is expected to last for approximately nine months. During this time, no park roadways or trails will be closed, and both parks will be restored to their previous condition or even better upon completion of the project.

To discuss the project and address any concerns, a public meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Council Chamber in City Hall. This meeting provides an opportunity for residents to voice their opinions and gain a better understanding of the project's impact.

The map provided shows the boundaries of the two parks in relation to University Drive, giving residents a visual representation of the proposed changes.

These improvements are crucial for enhancing pedestrian and traffic safety in the area. The City of Fort Worth remains committed to continually improving the infrastructure and amenities for its residents.
