As the holiday season concludes, the City of Fort Worth provides guidelines for disposing of Christmas trees. Residents are encouraged to consider reusing or donating their trees and decorations. However, if disposal is necessary, there are specific methods to follow.
Live Christmas trees can be placed curbside for pickup during regular yard waste collection. These trees will be turned into mulch as they are biodegradable. This applies to live flocked trees, garlands, and boughs as well. Trees must not exceed eight feet in length and should be cut into smaller pieces if needed.
Artificial trees should be disposed of in the brown garbage cart along with any artificial wreaths, garlands, lights, tinsel, and other decorations.
For those seeking alternative disposal options, Fort Worth offers four Drop-Off Station locations where residents can bring both live and artificial Christmas trees along with old or broken decorations and excess waste. These stations operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays but will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
