The City of Fort Worth Diversity & Inclusion employee committee is hosting a program titled "Afrofuturism: Imagining the Future While Honoring the Past" as part of their Black History Month observance. The program will take place on Thursday, Feb. 15, from noon to 1 p.m. and can be watched via FWTV and the City's YouTube channel. It will also be available on demand on both platforms starting Friday, Feb. 16.
Dr. Angela Mack will be presenting at the program, providing an overview of Afrofuturism and highlighting 13 significant national and local figures from Emancipation to the present. The presentation will delve into the basic tenants of Afrofuturism and its influence on these historic individuals. Additionally, attendees can expect a performance of music and monologues that span 300 years of history, infused with the ideology of Afrofuturism even before the term was coined.
