Mayfest enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the return of the family festival from May 2 to May 5. As preparations ramp up for the event, parts of Trinity Park will be closed to the public until Wednesday, May 9. This closure includes the Mayfest area, which encompasses Dream Park. However, despite these closures, there are still enjoyable options available to park visitors.
While Dream Park will be off-limits during setup, it will be accessible to all Mayfest attendees once the festival commences. Additionally, an alternative playground situated at the north end of Trinity Park, near the duck pond, will remain open during this period, providing a recreational outlet for park visitors.
To ensure that outdoor enthusiasts can continue to enjoy the park's trails, the Trinity Park Loop Trail offers a illuminated detour along the west side of the Trinity River, connecting the north and south ends of the closure. Furthermore, trail users have the option to cross the Trinity River at either the Mistletoe Bridge in the south or the Phyllis J. Tilley Bridge in the north.
In reflecting on the impact of Mayfest on the community, over $7.5 million has been reinvested back into various initiatives. Notable improvements funded by Mayfest include LED lighting and structures across Trinity Park, signage and landscaping for the Phyllis J. Tilley Memorial Pedestrian Bridge, and the establishment of five trail connections along the Trinity Trails.
As the community eagerly awaits the festivities of Mayfest, the temporary closures in Trinity Park pave the way for a vibrant and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
