Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker recently celebrated the achievements of 168 local graduating seniors at the third annual “Where Achievement Begins: Mayor’s Celebration for Workforce-Ready Graduates.” These students were honored with the Mayor’s Achievement Award for their dedication to acquiring workforce readiness skills, professional certificates, and internship experience on top of their high school diplomas.
Parker expressed her admiration for the students, stating, “Fort Worth is full of exceptional students with limitless potential, and it is an honor to recognize a group of them who are working to prioritize career-readiness so early in their educational career.”
The honorees were selected by the 12 school districts in Fort Worth that provide high schools with career readiness programs. To delve into the impact of these programs on the students' lives and futures, a panel discussion was hosted by NBC-5’s Deborah Ferguson, featuring Mayor Parker, an honoree from Fort Worth ISD, Rolando Jaramillo, and recent graduate and T3 scholar, Lizbeth Moldanado.
Additionally, Parker highlighted the efforts of the Mayor’s Council on Education & Workforce, launched in 2022 to enhance educational programs and career pathways in Fort Worth public schools, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future endeavors.
In recognition of their hard work and dedication, all students in attendance were presented with a Mayor’s Achievement Award medal and a special gift from the event’s sponsors. The event aimed to applaud the students' commitment to achieving career readiness skills and set them on a path to success in their chosen fields.
The Mayor’s Celebration for Workforce-Ready Graduates was a testament to the city's dedication to nurturing young talent and providing them with the tools they need to excel in their future careers.
