The City of Fort Worth will soon launch a national search to find the next city manager following the announced retirement of David Cooke, the longest-serving city manager in Fort Worth’s history.
Fort Worth is the 12th largest city in the U.S., and the next city manager will play a critical role in steering the city’s future growth, overseeing day-to-day operations, and maintaining Fort Worth’s reputation as a thriving urban center.
The City of Fort Worth’s award-winning Human Resources Department will lead the search process in close collaboration with the City Council. Rather than hire an external firm, Fort Worth’s HR team will spearhead a national recruitment effort to attract and find the most qualified candidates.
This opportunity to lead the nation’s 12th largest city is expected to attract top-tier candidates.
In the coming weeks, a comprehensive brochure will be available, outlining key details for prospective applicants. Residents and stakeholders can stay updated on the process by reading the latest editions of CityNews, the City’s official newsletter.
