The City of Fort Worth Development Services has commenced its first infrastructure construction project under the Small-Scale Infrastructure Program (SSIP). This initiative marks a significant milestone as it is the first time Development Services has undertaken both the design and construction of community services. The project aims to enhance the development experience through this new turnkey service.
The inaugural project is located in City Council District 5 at the Hughes House Community Center, where five pedestrian lights will be installed. The completion of this project is anticipated to take several months. A groundbreaking event was held on Friday, Oct. 11, at 5012 E. Rosedale St., to commemorate this occasion.
The SSIP program focuses on designing and constructing developer-led and funded small-scale infrastructure projects. It currently includes right-turn lanes, roadway improvements, alleys, street and pedestrian lights, flashing beacons, driveways, sidewalks, and other incidental development needs. Future phases are expected to incorporate utilities such as water and sewer within the next year.
Interested parties can apply for SSIP services via the online permitting system Accela or in person at the new City Hall located at 100 Fort Worth Trail. For more information about the SSIP program, individuals can visit their website or contact program manager Jenna Henderson or senior capital projects officer Victor Tornero Sr.
