Fort Worth's Transportation & Public Works Department has been awarded the Gold Award by the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association. This accolade recognizes the department's efforts on the East Berry Corridor Plan.

The awards ceremony took place in Allen, Texas, following a three-day conference.

The East Berry Street Corridor Plan focused on the area east of I-35W. The project aimed to develop corridor concepts, strategies, and actionable steps to transform East Berry Street into a smart, walkable, multi-modal corridor suitable for all ages and abilities. To gather community feedback, a series of open houses was conducted to understand local needs and preferences resulting from the study.

The corridor study involved analyzing existing street conditions to devise strategies that enhance mobility and foster a healthy relationship between the roadway and nearby land uses. For East Berry Street, actionable items were created to establish an inviting streetscape, safe communities, and a sense of place for both residents and visitors.

This planning study was led by TPW but also had support from various City departments such as Development Services, FWLab, Fort Worth Public Library, Economic Development, Park & Recreation among others.
