Election season continues in Fort Worth with a unique opportunity for residents to vote in the Name the Street Sweepers contest. The initiative attracted over 500 participants who submitted more than 1,300 name suggestions for the city's new street sweepers.

Cody Whittenburg, the environmental services director, expressed enthusiasm about the community's involvement: “The excitement around our Name the Street Sweepers Contest has been contagious,” he said. He commended the creativity of participants and emphasized that this effort supports Fort Worth's commitment to maintaining a clean city.

City staff have selected 50 finalists from all submissions. Residents are now invited to vote for their favorite names, with voting open until Friday, November 15. The top 12 names will be featured on the new street sweepers.

The contest is free and aims to encourage a litter-free environment in Fort Worth. Those whose submissions made it to the finalist list are encouraged to promote voting efforts within their networks.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 3, during a Fort Worth City Council work session at 1 p.m. They will receive an email notification along with a prize pack containing environmentally themed items. Winning names will also be published on the City’s Litter website and Keep Fort Worth Beautiful’s Facebook page.

For further details and official rules, residents can visit the City of Fort Worth Litter website.
