Fort Worth's Fairhaven neighborhood has been selected for the 2025 Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP). The announcement was made by Neighborhood Services Director Kacey Bess during a City Council work session.

The project will follow a three-year timeline, starting with a resident survey and town hall. Implementation is scheduled for October 2025, with completion expected by September 2027. Fairhaven covers Council Districts 5 and 11.

The NIP is an annual initiative by Fort Worth’s Neighborhood Services Department, focusing on enhancing life quality and public safety in underserved communities. It involves capital investments, maintenance protocols, and community empowerment initiatives to improve perceptions of safety, cleanliness, and neighborhood pride.

While coordinated by Neighborhood Services, the program is community-driven. Various city departments provide capital for improvements such as police safety enhancements like cameras, trash pickup, streetlights, parks, sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic calming measures, recreation amenities, code enforcement actions, neighborhood cleanups, demolishing vacant structures, and building neighborhood associations.

Resident feedback helps shape the investments and programs developed for each neighborhood. This approach ensures resources are directed toward areas with the greatest need.

Since its inception in 2017, the program has impacted nine neighborhoods: Seminary (2024), Historic Marine (2023), Las Vegas Trail (2022), Como (2021), Rosemont (2020), Northside (2019), Ash Crescent (2018), and Stop Six (2017).
