As spring arrives, many people focus on cleaning their homes but often overlook the need to tidy up their yards. It's important to remember that yard waste should not be disposed of in regular garbage or recycling bins. Proper disposal of yard waste is crucial as it helps conserve landfill space, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and protects native plant life.
The City advises residents that yard waste must not be mixed with rocks, debris, plastic bags, bottles, metal, plant pot pieces, or other trash. To facilitate proper disposal, residents can purchase a green yard cart by contacting the 311 Fort Worth Contact Center at 817-392-1234 or emailing 1234@fortworthtexas.gov.
For weekly collection services, residents are encouraged to place their yard waste in the green carts and set them out on the curb. Yard bags are also an alternative option for disposing of yard waste.
