Tarrant County Public Health has a new location in Arlington for residents seeking low-cost immunizations.

Through an interlocal agreement with the City of Arlington, Tarrant County began operating The Tarrant County Public Health – Arlington – Cooper Street location on Sept. 25, 2023, inside the Fire Department’s Public Health Unit at 2920 S. Cooper St.

The Arlington site is one of six public health centers operated by Tarrant County, that offer various vaccines to area residents. This location provides easy access to low cost or no cost vaccine programs for qualified individuals including children and adults.

The Arlington Fire Department, which has provided more than 233,440 COVID-19 immunizations since 2021, ceased providing the COVID vaccine at the Public Health Unit on Aug. 30, 2023, ahead of the transition.

The Arlington Fire Department will continue to house EMS personnel in the shared space. This agreement is designed to provide Arlington residents with increased accessibility to services offered by Tarrant County Public Health and create opportunities for ongoing collaboration between the County and the City related to improving public health within the community, Assistant Fire Chief Gerald Randall said.

As part of the relocation, Tarrant County Public Health closed the Southeast Public Health Center at 536 W. Randol Mill Road in Arlington.
