Sprocket Networks, a Texas-based provider of high-speed fiber optic internet services, has signed a long-term contract with the City of Fort Worth. The collaboration aims to build and operate a fiber broadband network that will serve the city's municipal sites and provide high-speed internet access to areas where infrastructure investments have lagged behind growing needs.

The project, known as Fort Worth Fiber, will offer customers lightning-fast fiber speeds, symmetrical upload and download rates, and comprehensive whole-home Wi-Fi coverage. Will Gibson, President of Sprocket Networks, expressed excitement about the venture, stating, "We believe that everyone should have access to affordable, high-speed internet, and we are committed to bridging the digital divide in our community."

Mayor Mattie Parker also emphasized the significance of expanding broadband access, stating, "The internet is essential for education, employment, and economic development, and we are grateful for Sprocket Networks' investment in our city."

The project will involve installing over 300 miles of fiber optic cable throughout Fort Worth, establishing a backbone network for Sprocket to extend broadband connectivity to city government sites, businesses, and residents. Construction is set to commence in 2024.

To ensure transparency and keep residents informed, a waitlist has been created on fwfiber.com, where individuals can sign up and receive regular updates about the project's progress.

It's worth noting that the City of Fort Worth used funds from an existing technology operations budget to attract Sprocket Networks' investment. By partnering with Sprocket Networks, the city is taking a significant step towards closing the digital divide and ensuring that all residents have access to the internet.

Sprocket Networks has established itself as a leading provider of fiber optic internet services in the North Texas area. The company is committed to providing affordable, high-speed internet access to both residential and commercial customers.

This partnership between Sprocket Networks and the City of Fort Worth is a promising development in the ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide. By expanding broadband access, Fort Worth is taking a proactive approach towards enabling education, employment, and economic opportunities for all its residents.
