Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne and Congresswoman Dina Titus have been chosen as co-chairs for the 43rd Annual Congressional Art Competition, "An Artistic Discovery." Expressing her enthusiasm, Congresswoman Van Duyne stated, "I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many talented young North Texas artists through this program, and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing their skills develop over the years." Congresswoman Titus also shared her excitement, saying, "The Congressional Art Competition is an incredible opportunity to recognize talented high school students involved in the arts from around the country."

Kelle Strickland, President and CEO of the Congressional Institute, highlighted the significance of the competition, stating, "For 43 years, the Congressional Art Competition has showcased the country’s best artistic talent." The competition, established in 1982, aims to emphasize the importance of arts and humanities in education. Southwest Airlines has partnered with the Congressional Institute to award each winner with two tickets to travel to D.C. for the awards ceremony celebration in June.

The Congressional Art Competition serves as a platform to promote the artistic talents of high school students nationwide, providing them with the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol. Each Member of Congress sponsors the competition annually, with winning pieces exhibited in the Cannon tunnel leading into the Capitol.

In addition to encouraging artistic expression, Congresswoman Van Duyne actively engages with local art teachers and community artists to select winning artwork for the TX-24 2024 Congressional Art Competition. The competition deadline is April 15, 2024, and community members can vote for their favorite pieces as "People’s Choice Winners."

The Congressional Art Competition continues to be a bipartisan initiative that celebrates the creative endeavors of young artists across the country, fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts and providing a platform for their talent to shine on a national stage.
